Capcom unveiled fresh gameplay footage of its upcoming action title, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, slated for release in 2026. The trailer, showcased at the PlayStation State of Play, not only revealed thrilling sword-based combat and imposing enemies, but also introduced the game's protagonist: the legendary swordsman, Miyamoto Musashi.
The game promises a captivating blend of action and dark fantasy, featuring Musashi's unparalleled swordsmanship and a surprisingly comedic personality. Capcom's press release highlights the historical figure's starring role, noting that Musashi's in-game likeness is modeled after the iconic Toshiro Mifune, renowned for his samurai film portrayals.The setting is a Kyoto overrun by Malic, an evil force summoning hellish entities into Japan. Onimusha: Way of the Sword marks the franchise's return after a two-decade hiatus. To whet fans' appetites, Capcom also announced a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, launching May 23, 2025.
