Both the US and UK PlayStation Direct websites consistently show the disc drive as out of stock, with limited availability at third-party retailers like Best Buy and Target resulting in immediate sellouts. This mirrors the initial PS5 console launch challenges in 2020, with scalpers exacerbating the problem by acquiring and reselling drives at inflated prices. The added cost of the drive significantly increases the overall expense of the already-expensive PS5 Pro.
