The eagerly awaited return of the Plunderstorm event in World of Warcraft has hit a snag due to some unforeseen issues, pushing back its launch. While the event was initially slated to resume before the end of January 14, 2025, fans will need to wait a bit longer to dive back into this pirate-themed battle royale mode introduced during the Dragonflight expansion. Despite the delay, World of Warcraft remains committed to launching Plunderstorm by the end of January 14, though a specific time has yet to be announced.
Originally, the game's maintenance was extended from six to eight hours, with servers expected to be back online by 3 PM PST. However, as reported by WoW community manager Kaivax on the forums, unexpected challenges have caused further delays. In the meantime, normal World of Warcraft servers have resumed operation, allowing players to engage in other activities such as completing their Siren Isle weeklies or participating in the second week of the Turbulent Timeways event within The War Within.
When is Plunderstorm Live in World of Warcraft?
- Before the end of January 14, after "unexpected issues" are resolved
The second iteration of Plunderstorm introduces exciting new features, including the Plunderstore and an in-game event interface accessible while logged in. These additions might be at the root of the current issues, but World of Warcraft is working diligently to resolve them so players can soon return to plundering.
Despite the delay, the new Plunderstorm Twitch Drops are already available. Fans can earn the Coward’s Azure Target back transmog by watching four hours of any Twitch stream in the World of Warcraft category before February 4 at 10 AM PST. Notably, the streamer does not need to be playing Plunderstorm for viewers to progress toward the Drop, providing an excellent opportunity for fans to secure this item while awaiting the game mode's return.
