Path of Exile 2's endgame presents a significant challenge. To ease the transition, developers have strategically placed easily-missed encounters within the main campaign. These encounters provide permanent buffs, extra passive skill points, and weapon set skill points. One such encounter, the Sisters of Garukhan, offers a valuable +10% Lightning Resistance buff. This guide explains how to locate and activate this crucial benefit.

Where To Find the Sisters of Garukhan

The Sisters of Garukhan encounter, granting +10% Lightning Resistance, appears twice: once in Act 2 and again in Act 2 Cruel. Its location within the Spires of Deshar map is randomized with each playthrough, making it easily overlooked. The shrine's icon is inconspicuous on the map. Thoroughly explore the Spires of Deshar; you'll eventually discover a shrine resembling the image above. Activating it awards the buff, but be prepared for a fight—nearby automatons will spring to life and attack. Activating the shrine triggers all automatons on the map.

A helpful strategy: If you reach a checkpoint near the exit before finding the Sisters, fast travel back to that checkpoint to avoid traversing the entire map.

Claiming the +10% Lightning Resistance Buff

The +10% Lightning Resistance is applied instantly upon interacting with the shrine. It's not a dropped item or a reward for defeating the automatons; activation is immediate. Since the encounter is repeatable (Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel), activating it twice grants a total of +20% Lightning Resistance.

Troubleshooting: Why No Lightning Resistance Increase?

Many players are puzzled to see negative elemental resistances even after activating the Sisters of Garukhan. This is due to a game mechanic: after each Act, a -10% debuff to all elemental resistances is applied (Chaos Resistance remains unaffected). Therefore, activating the Sisters in Act 2 nets zero Lightning Resistance (the buff cancels the Act 1 debuff). In Act 2 Cruel, the net Lightning Resistance will be -30% after activating the shrine (+10% buff offsets some of the -40% debuff from completing Act 2).

To verify the buffs are active, remove all equipment and check your resistances in the endgame. A -40% elemental resistance indicates that you have successfully completed both encounters.
