Pokémon Company Tackles TCG Shortages, Scalpers Post-Destined Rivals Launch

Author : Benjamin Update:May 26,2025

The Pokémon Company has taken a significant step to address the ongoing issues fans face when trying to get their hands on the latest Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) sets. In a recent statement, the company has confirmed that reprints of sought-after sets are on the way, aiming to resolve the persistent challenges with product availability.

The release of the Pokémon TCG set, Destined Rivals, was marred by several issues, including product shortages, pre-order complications, and the impact of scalpers. This set, along with others like Prismatic Evolutions and the Blooming Waters box, has been in high demand, making them difficult to acquire for many fans.

In its statement on the official Pokémon site, The Pokémon Company (TPC) acknowledged that some fans are "experiencing difficulties purchasing certain Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) products due to very high demand impacting availability." They expressed their understanding of the disappointment this causes and outlined their plan to address the issue.

"We understand this inconvenience can be disappointing for fans, and we are actively working to print more of the impacted Pokémon TCG products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity to acknowledge this," the statement read. "Reprinted products are expected to be available at participating retailers as soon as possible."

TPC also committed to "maximizing production" for future TCG expansions to ensure better product availability at launch. They also pledged to "continue to reprint impacted products" to replenish stock, including for the Pokémon Center.

In response to scalping, The Pokémon Company indirectly addressed the issue by emphasizing their commitment to providing a smooth purchasing experience. They noted that for releases on the Pokémon Center, they employ technology that prioritizes fans. Currently, the Pokémon Center uses a virtual queue system during periods of increased site traffic to manage demand.

"We will continue to explore measures that help create the best possible experience for Pokémon Center customers," the company stated. "We’d like to thank the community for their continued support and patience as we work to deliver more Pokémon TCG products to fans."

With these assurances, fans can hope for a more streamlined and less stressful experience when collecting and playing with the Pokémon TCG as new sets are released.
