In Pokémon TCG Pocket, Sleep is a debilitating status condition that significantly hinders a Pokémon's performance. This guide details its effects and how to counter it.
Understanding Sleep in Pokémon TCG Pocket
When afflicted with Sleep, a Pokémon is completely incapacitated. It cannot attack, use abilities, or retreat. This renders the affected Pokémon a vulnerable target in the active spot.
Curing Sleep
There are primarily two methods for curing Sleep:
-
Coin Toss: Each turn, a coin toss determines if the sleeping Pokémon wakes up. This offers a chance of quick recovery, but also the possibility of prolonged sleep.
-
Evolution: Evolving a sleeping Pokémon instantly cures the Sleep condition.
A less common method involves the Koga Trainer card, which only works on Weezing and Muk, returning them to your hand.

Hypno's Strategic Advantage
Hypno stands out due to its ability to inflict Sleep from the bench, without requiring Energy. This makes it a powerful support card for Psychic decks, particularly when paired with strong attackers like Mewtwo ex and Gardevoir. While other Sleep-inducing cards can be incorporated into various decks, Hypno’s versatility currently makes it the most competitive option.
