The wait is over! Nvidia's GeForce RTX 50-series graphics cards are available for preorder, starting at 6 AM PT on January 30th. Leading the charge are the top-tier RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 GPUs, with the mid-range RTX 5070 and 5070 Ti models launching later in February.
Be warned: launch-day stock is expected to vanish quickly. Retailers have already cautioned about limited inventory, and past Nvidia launches have been plagued by bots snapping up cards for resale at inflated prices. If you're ready to buy and lucky enough to find one in stock, don't hesitate!
Pre-built PCs featuring the RTX 5090 might offer better availability, though at a premium price.

Update: Most retailers have already sold out.
Pricing and Preorder Strategies
While only the RTX 5090 and 5080 launch in January, Nvidia has announced pricing for all four models:
- RTX 5090 - $1,999
- RTX 5080 - $999
- RTX 5070 Ti - $749
- RTX 5070 - $549
To maximize your chances of securing an RTX 5090 or 5080, check each retailer listed above. Even if a card shows as in stock, the high demand means it could sell out quickly. Consider these retailer-specific tips:

Best Buy

Historically a good option, especially for Founder's Edition cards. Availability varies by region.
Newegg

Offers a wide selection of AIB (third-party manufacturer) cards and bundles. Prioritize purchasing directly from Newegg, not marketplace vendors.
Nvidia Store

Founder's Edition cards are usually in high demand and quickly sold out. Consider registering for notifications.
Amazon

Be cautious of marketplace vendors. Only buy from Amazon directly.
Adorama

Offers AIB cards and pre-built PCs. Shipping times may be longer than other retailers.
B&H Photo

Similar to Adorama; check for shipping times.
Micro Center (In-Store)

Best in-store option if you live nearby. Expect high demand.

IGN reviewed both the RTX 5090 and 5080 FE GPUs. While offering performance improvements, particularly with DLSS 4, the generational leap is considered modest compared to previous generations, especially in non-AI enhanced games.
