On January 15th, Pellen tweeted, "Something big is coming. Keep your eyes peeled tomorrow," a seemingly obvious nod to the impending Switch 2 reveal. The usual Silksong release queries followed, but Pellen's subsequent action ignited the speculation fire.

On January 16th, coinciding with the Switch 2 announcement and an upcoming April 2nd Direct, Pellen changed his profile picture to a slice of cake. A reverse image search revealed the image originated from a Bon Appetit article featuring a Brooklyn Blackout Cake recipe, published on April 2, 2024.

Pellen also commented on the article with "mmmm tasty," prompting a flurry of fan comments connecting the cake to Silksong. One fan even declared, "If we get real Silksong news by April 2nd, 2025, I will bake this cake!" Another chimed in with, "Loved the silky texture.
