On April 9, Sega took to Twitter (X) to share that Sonic Rumble will hit the global market on May 8, 2025. Accompanying this exciting news was a fresh trailer, offering a glimpse into the game's dynamic gameplay.

Sonic Rumble marks the franchise's inaugural multiplayer party game, allowing up to 32 players to vie for supremacy across various levels and challenges. In this thrilling new title, players assume control of a Sonic series character, navigating a toy world masterminded by the notorious Dr. Eggman. They'll tackle treacherous obstacle courses and battle it out in hazardous arenas.

Given its free-to-play model, concerns about pay-to-win mechanics have surfaced. However, Sonic Rumble Director Makoto Tase addressed these worries in an interview with Automaton during the Tokyo Game Show 2024 in September. He emphasized, "We’re aiming for a casual system that allows you to just buy what you want quickly for a small, fixed amount, rather than a gacha system that gives you a certain probability of obtaining items."

Sonic Rumble Reaches Over 900k Pre-Registrations

Following the release date announcement, Sega disclosed that Sonic Rumble has now surpassed 900,000 pre-registrations. As the game hits each pre-registration milestone, players will unlock in-game rewards to kickstart their adventure.
