The boys are back in town — and by the boys, we're talking about Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. South Park is set to return for Season 27, and it seems our favorite Colorado crew will be tackling, well, the state of things. And by tackling, I mean they'll be navigating it in their uniquely chaotic way.
The beloved animated series released a new trailer to announce the upcoming season, but not without a clever twist. It starts off by tricking the audience into thinking it's a dramatic sneak peek at a new drama. The intense editing and suspenseful music set an ominous tone... until Randy, Stan's dad, and his sister Shelley appear on-screen. Randy asks Shelley if she's been taking drugs, suggesting, "Because I think it could really help you," as they sit on her bed with a Wicked movie poster in the background.
South Park Season 27 is slated to premiere on Wednesday, July 9th. After the initial gag, the trailer shifts back to showcasing intense action, hinting at several significant and topical moments from the season. Expect to see major plane crashes, the toppling of the Statue of Liberty, a P. Diddy appearance, and what looks like another war with Canada. If you're a longtime fan of the show, or even if you've just watched the 1999 film South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut, you know that a conflict with Canada is almost a given.
The teaser also confirms that Season 27 will premiere on July 9, 2025, on Comedy Central, marking over two years since the conclusion of Season 26. In the interim, the series has kept fans engaged with three specials: 2023’s South Park: Joining the Panderverse and South Park (Not Suitable For Children), followed by 2024’s South Park: The End of Obesity.
South Park celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022, having debuted on Comedy Central to near-instant acclaim back in 1997.
