Spectre Divide has been in the spotlight since its development involved the renowned streamer and former esports professional, Shroud. However, a prominent name doesn't guarantee a project's success. Mountaintop Studios recently announced its closure and the imminent shutdown of the shooter game's servers.
The studio will cease operations by the end of this week, with the servers staying online for just under a month. During this period, Mountaintop Studios will process refunds for player purchases. Unfortunately, Spectre Divide struggled to draw a substantial audience and generate sufficient revenue to sustain its operations.

It's disheartening to see yet another project falter, but this situation underscores the challenges of entering the competitive live-service gaming market. Spectre Divide didn't bring anything revolutionary or groundbreaking to the table, failing to attract a significant player base. Even with Shroud's fame and esports expertise, the game couldn't bridge the gap between hardcore enthusiasts and casual gamers, who have distinct preferences and priorities.
Ultimately, another esports-inspired venture has not met its mark in the gaming industry. Press F to pay respects.
