Oscar Isaac's Star Wars Celebration 2025 Appearance Fuels Poe Dameron Return Speculation
Sequel Trilogy star Oscar Isaac's confirmed appearance at Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Tokyo (April 18-20) has ignited fan speculation about a potential return of Poe Dameron. The announcement, made via the official Star Wars Celebration Instagram, follows Daisy Ridley's 2023 Celebration appearance and subsequent confirmation of her role in a new Star Wars film.
Isaac's past comments on returning to the franchise have been varied. Initially expressing reluctance, he later stated he was "open to anything." His past criticism of Disney, particularly regarding the lack of a Poe/Finn romance, adds another layer to the anticipation. John Boyega, who played Finn, also voiced past reservations about his Star Wars experience but has since expressed openness to future roles.
The upcoming Rey film, set approximately 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker, focuses on Rey's efforts to rebuild the Jedi Order. Ridley has publicly expressed her wish for Boyega's return, and the inclusion of Poe, the final member of the Sequel Trilogy's main trio, would seem a natural progression.
The possibility of a reunion of the three main characters is further fueled by the film's delayed release date. Multiple Star Wars projects have faced repeated delays, pushing the earliest potential release date for the Rey film to December 17, 2027. Directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, the film remains without a firm release date.
