Starfield PS5 Release Hinted by Logo in Creation

Author : Jason Update:Apr 22,2025

Speculation that Starfield will soon be confirmed for release on PlayStation 5 has intensified after fans noticed a PlayStation logo on Bethesda's official Creations website. The logo was linked to a work-in-progress ship decals Creation for Starfield, which was subsequently removed. However, this has fueled speculation that Bethesda's currently PC and Xbox-exclusive sci-fi game may soon be available on PS5.

They have added the Playstation logo to a creation. (I think they are beta testers, the logo only appears on one creation)

The discovery has led to discussions about whether Bethesda plans a significant content update or even a new expansion to coincide with Starfield's potential PS5 release. Following the lukewarm reception of the Shattered Space expansion, there's been a noticeable lack of news about Starfield in recent months. Bethesda's parent company, Microsoft, is expected to host another summer showcase this year, which could be the perfect opportunity to reveal more about Starfield's future.

Bethesda has teased "exciting things" planned for Starfield in 2024, amidst growing player discontent over communication and updates. In June 2024, Bethesda reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Starfield and confirmed at least one more story expansion following Shattered Space. In an interview with YouTube channel MrMattyPlays, Bethesda Game Studios' Todd Howard mentioned the studio's goal to release an annual story expansion for "hopefully a very long time."

IGN's review of Starfield gave it a 7/10, stating: "Starfield has a lot of forces working against it, but eventually the allure of its expansive roleplaying quests and respectable combat make its gravitational pull difficult to resist."

In January, Microsoft's gaming boss Phil Spencer hinted at the possibility of Starfield coming to PS5. Reports from March 2024 suggested that both Starfield and MachineGames' Indiana Jones and the Great Circle were being considered for PS5. While Indiana Jones was confirmed for PS5 with a spring 2025 release window, Starfield's PS5 release remains unconfirmed, though Spencer's comments suggest it's a possibility.

Several Xbox games are already available on PS5, including Rare's Sea of Thieves, Tango Gameworks' Hi-Fi Rush, and Obsidian's Grounded and Pentiment. Microsoft also publishes Minecraft on PlayStation consoles and plans to release Doom: The Dark Ages and Ninja Gaiden 4 on PS5 later this year. Playground's Forza Horizon 5 is also set to come to PS5 soon. There are even rumors that Microsoft might finally bring Halo to PlayStation after decades of Xbox exclusivity.

Spencer has explained that Xbox's multiplatform strategy is partly driven by the need to increase revenue for Microsoft's gaming division, especially after the $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard. In an August statement, Spencer emphasized the high expectations within Microsoft for the gaming division to deliver results, given the substantial support it receives from the company.

He stated, "We run a business. It’s definitely true inside of Microsoft the bar is high for us in terms of the delivery we have to give back to the company. Because we get a level of support from the company that’s just amazing and what we’re able to go do. So I look at this, how can we make our games as strong as possible? Our platform continues to grow, on console, on PC, and on cloud. It’s just going to be a strategy that works for us."

Bethesda Game Studios, with its 450 employees, is currently managing five teams working on Starfield, Elder Scrolls 6, Fallout 76, mobile projects, and external development partnerships.
