Where to Stream The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep (and How It Fits Into The Witcher Timeline)

Author : Victoria Update:Feb 20,2025

Geralt of Rivia's voice, familiar to fans of the Witcher games, returns in Netflix's latest animated adventure. "The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep," a spin-off film set during the first season of the Netflix series, features Doug Cockle reprising his iconic role.

IGN's Jarrod Jones, in his review, notes that while the pairing of Cockle's Geralt and Joey Batey's Jaskier holds appeal, its charm might be primarily felt by dedicated fans. Nevertheless, it offers a potential bridge to the highly anticipated Witcher 4.

Plot Summary: "The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep"

Based on Andrzej Sapkowski's short story "A Little Sacrifice," "Sirens of the Deep" unfolds between episodes 5 and 6 of Season 1 of the Netflix series. The official synopsis: Geralt investigates attacks in a coastal village, uncovering an ancient conflict between humans and sea people that threatens war. With the help of allies, he must resolve the mystery before the situation escalates.

The Broader Witcher Universe

The Witcher franchise originated with Sapkowski's book series, chronicling Geralt's adventures in a world inspired by Slavic mythology. CD Projekt Red's video game adaptations, particularly "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt," achieved critical acclaim, leading to numerous spin-offs and collaborations (including the popular Gwent card game). The announcement of Witcher 4 and its new protagonist at the 2024 Game Awards generated significant excitement.

Netflix's live-action series, which ran for three seasons starring Henry Cavill, is set to continue with a fourth season featuring Liam Hemsworth as Geralt, premiering in April.

Cast and Crew

"The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep" was written by Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin (also writers on the live-action series) and directed by Kang Hei Chul. Animation was a collaborative effort between Studio Mir, Platige Image (Poland), and Hivemind.

The film boasts a blend of video game and live-action actors. Doug Cockle returns as Geralt, alongside:

  • Christina Wren as Essi Daven
  • Emily Carey as Sh'eenaz
