Despite the cancellation of the live-action Driver TV series, Ubisoft confirms continued development of other Driver franchise projects. Read on for details.
Ubisoft Remains Active on Future Driver Projects
Ubisoft has officially confirmed to Game File the cancellation of its live-action Driver TV series adaptation. Initially announced in 2021 for exclusive streaming on Binge.com, the project was part of Ubisoft's broader initiative to expand its game franchises into new media. As stated by Ubisoft Film & Television head Danielle Kreinik, the goal was "to bring our games to life in new and exciting ways and create content set in the world, culture, and community of gaming."
The collaboration ended due to the closure of Hotrod Tanner LLC, a movie-related subsidiary (named after the Driver protagonist), in January. A Ubisoft spokesperson stated to Game File, "We are no longer moving forward with our partnership with Binge for a Driver series."
However, Ubisoft assures fans that development continues on other Driver projects. The company is "actively working on other exciting projects related to the franchise" and promises future announcements. Specific details remain undisclosed, but further updates are expected.
