Unlike previous Dynasty Warriors titles where players controlled numerous characters, each with unique weapons, Dynasty Warriors: Origins features a single playable character who unlocks various weapons throughout the game. Here's a guide to acquiring each weapon:

Weapon Acquisition Guide

The game starts with a default sword. Additional weapons are earned by defeating specific enemy officers in various missions. While all nine main weapons can usually be obtained before completing Chapter 3, the exact timing depends on which officers are defeated. This guide details the earliest opportunity for each weapon unlock:

• Sword: Starting weapon.
• Spear: Complete the Battle of Guangyang (Chapter 1). Purchase is required for story progression.
• Gauntlets: Battle of Guangzong (Chapter 1). Defeat Zhou Cang.
• Wheels: Suppression of You Province (Chapter 2). Defeat Zhang Ju.
• Podao: Subjugation of the White Wave Bandits (Chapter 2). Defeat any officer wielding this weapon.
• Staff: Assassination of Dong Zhuo (Chapter 2). Defeat the officer within a treasure chamber accessed via a secret passage.
• Twin Pike: Battle of Hulao Gate (Chapter 2). Defeat Zhang Liao.
• Lance: Battle of Xu Province. Defeat an officer on the opposing side (either Cao Cao or Liu Bei's forces) wielding the lance.
• Crescent Blade: Unlocked sometime in Chapter 3 after aligning with a specific faction. The exact mission varies depending on player choices.

Bonus Weapon: The Halberd

After completing the main campaign, a final weapon, the halberd, can be unlocked by defeating Lu Bu in the Battle of Hulao Gate. This challenging battle rewards players with arguably the game's most powerful weapon.
