Mastering Weapon and Armor Upgrades in Avowed: A Comprehensive Guide
Progressing through Avowed introduces increasingly challenging enemies. To maintain combat effectiveness, upgrading your gear is crucial. This guide details how to enhance weapons and armor within the game.
Upgrade Locations: Workbenches and Party Camps
Weapon and armor upgrades are performed at Workbenches (pictured above). These require various materials depending on the item type and quality. Most materials are readily available through exploration or crafting. However, advancing an item's quality requires progressively rarer Adra.
Workbenches are situated at Party Camps, established near Adra Waystones. Locate a Waystone, interact with it, and select the option to create a camp. These camps are marked on your map with a tent icon, enabling fast travel.
Understanding Weapon and Armor Levels
Avowed employs a dual-tiered system for gear power: Quality and additional upgrade levels.
-
Quality: Represented by a numerical value, color rarity (Green, Blue, Purple, Red, Gold), and descriptive adjective. This directly correlates to enemy levels within the Living Lands. Lower-quality gear is ineffective against stronger foes.
-
Additional Upgrades: Within each Quality tier (+0 to +3), further upgrades are possible. While less impactful than quality increases, these still boost stats. All three levels must be maxed before upgrading quality.
Prioritizing Upgrades: Unique vs. Standard Gear
Avowed features standard and unique weapons/armor. Standard gear is common loot or merchant purchases, while unique items are named, often rewarded through quests or boss encounters. Some merchants may sell unique items.
Unique gear offers superior upgrade potential (reaching Legendary quality), enhanced bonuses, and special perks. Focus your upgrade resources on unique items, reserving standard gear for temporary use between upgrades or resource acquisition. Sell or dismantle standard gear for Skeyt or crafting materials.
In summary: Upgrade your weapons and armor at Workbenches located in Party Camps. Prioritize upgrading unique gear to maximize its potential and combat effectiveness.
Avowed is available now on PC and Xbox.
