Poncle, the UK-based developer behind the immensely popular roguelike, Vampire Survivors, has offered a clearer timeline for the game's upcoming PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 releases. Following the May releases of the latest expansion and update, the developer provided an update on the console ports, initially announced for a Summer 2024 launch.
Initially launched in December 2021, Vampire Survivors—a critically acclaimed top-down shooter—already boasts a successful Nintendo Switch port. While precise release dates for the PS4 and PS5 versions remain elusive, Poncle assures fans that an official announcement is imminent. The development team cites unfamiliarity with PlayStation's submission processes and ongoing experimentation with the Trophy system as reasons for the extended timeframe. This meticulous approach aims to ensure a seamless and rewarding experience, mirroring the over 200 achievements available on the Steam version of the game.
The anticipated PlayStation ports are slated for a Summer 2024 release window. Positive fan reaction to Poncle's transparency is evident, with many expressing excitement at the prospect of earning a Platinum Trophy—a testament to completing all in-game achievements.
The recent release of "Operation Guns," a DLC inspired by Konami's Contra series, further enhances the Vampire Survivors experience. This expansion introduced 11 new characters, 22 automatic weapons, new biomes mirroring Contra levels, and classic Contra soundtracks. A subsequent hotfix, 1.10.105, addressed bugs in both the base game and the new DLC.
