Robert Downey Jr. and the Russo brothers are bringing Doctor Doom back! Marvel's hinting at a "Doom Era," akin to Dark Reign, rather than a single event. This means Doom's reign as World Emperor and Sorcerer Supreme will dominate the Marvel universe for most of 2025, even leading the Superior Avengers.
Predictably, the Superior Avengers will feature villains, but with a twist. Familiar names will belong to new characters:
- Abomination: Kristoff, Doom's adopted son and Reed Richards' half-brother.
- Dr. Octopus: A new, unnamed woman.
- Ghost: A nameless woman (Ant-Man related).
- Killmonger: A reimagined version.
- Malekith: The Black Elves remain on Earth.
- Onslaught: A new iteration.
The 6-issue Superior Avengers series, launching in April, will be written by Steve Fox and illustrated by Luca Maresca.
This isn't a novel concept. Norman Osborn led the Dark Avengers in 2009, and Hydra fielded its own Avengers team in Secret Empire.
