Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2's eagerly awaited Update 7.0 is now accessible through its first public test server (PTS). This preliminary release offers PC players an early glimpse into the new features and changes coming to the game. Publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Saber Interactive have shared that while the PTS patch notes cover "most" of the Update 7.0 features, the final version may include additional refinements as the team continues to address bugs.
Update 7.0 introduces several exciting additions, including a new PvE mission titled "Exfiltration," a new secondary weapon, the Inferno Pistol, available to the Vanguard, Sniper, and Heavy classes, and the introduction of prestige ranks in PvE. PvP enthusiasts will appreciate the addition of private lobbies. The update also brings enhanced customization options, such as new colors like Volupus Pink and Thousand Sons Blue, along with Bulwark cloth and hands recoloring. PvP rewards have seen a 50% increase, and new champion skins for the Tactical and Vanguard classes are available, featuring the Imperial Fists and Space Wolves, respectively.
Significant balance changes accompany this update, expanding the weapon arsenal for all classes in PvE. Notably, the Assault class can now wield the Power Sword without mods. The patch notes detail numerous adjustments to weapon stats and perks, ensuring a more dynamic and engaging gameplay experience. For instance, the Heavy Bolt Rifle has seen various modifications across its Artificer and Relic versions, enhancing its magazine capacity, accuracy, and range.
A crucial update to the Inferno Operation addresses the issue of griefing by introducing a teleportation feature. If a player reaches the assembly area in the final stage, other players will be automatically teleported there after a short delay, preventing indefinite stalling.
Last month, the developers teased the upcoming Horde mode and clarified their stance on live service elements amidst community feedback regarding 'FOMO' events. Earlier discussions also highlighted Saber Interactive's response to player concerns over content, outlining future plans for Space Marine 2.
