Xbox Developer Direct 2025: January 23rd Showcase Announced
Microsoft has unveiled the date for its next Xbox Developer Direct, scheduled for January 23rd, 2025. This marks the third annual event, kicking off the 2025 gaming showcase season. The first Developer Direct event debuted in January 2023, followed by a second in January 2024.
The 2025 showcase will begin at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT and will be streamed on YouTube and Twitch. While rumors circulated earlier in January, the official announcement confirms the date.
Confirmed Games:
The event will feature in-depth looks at three highly anticipated titles:
- Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: A turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive (France), slated for a 2025 release and confirmed as a day-one Xbox Game Pass title.
- Doom: The Dark Ages: The latest installment in the iconic Doom franchise from id Software. A demo was playable at QuakeCon 2024, and a mid-2025 launch is rumored.
- South of Midnight: A stylish action-adventure game from Compulsion Games (Canada), the creators of Contrast and We Happy Few. Announced in June 2023, a release date is expected.
Beyond the Confirmed Titles:
Previous Developer Direct events have lasted over 40 minutes and showcased multiple games. The 2024 event featured Avowed, Ara: History Untold, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, and Visions of Mana. It's highly likely the 2025 event will include additional unannounced titles.
