XD Inc’s next big project is Heartopia, a cozy small-town life sim inspired by Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It’s set to launch globally in 2026 on both PC and mobile.
They’ve shared a trailer revealing the game’s charming aesthetic. XD is bringing Heartopia to Tokyo Game Show 2025 in Japan, where a playable demo will be available from September 25th to 28th.
XD Inc will also host booth activities in Hall 2 (02-C07). If you’re at the event during those days, you can try the hands-on demo, enter a cosplay contest with cash prizes, and join a plush raffle.
What do we know so far about Heartopia, the Animal Crossing: New Horizons-inspired game?
The trailer shows clear parallels to Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley. The story begins with a mysterious Star Spirit leading players to a serene island, where they take on the role of town developer.
From there, life unfolds gently. The main character strolls through town on a rainy day, umbrella in hand, browsing shops, playing with pets, and eventually preparing a meal for friends. The trailer is styled like a “day in the life” vlog—watch it right here!
As seen in the video, the experience is intentionally calm, emphasizing mood over action. Core activities include fishing, gardening, bug catching, birdwatching, cooking, and caring for pets—each offering hours of peaceful engagement.Heartopia features a dictionary and encyclopaedia system tied to these hobbies. As you progress in each activity, new entries unlock, revealing rewards.
We’ll likely learn more about additional features after the demo. In the meantime, follow the official X account for the latest updates on the game.
