A Serious Side to Majima's Mayhem

While the Like a Dragon series is renowned for its humor, particularly Majima's comedic antics, director Masayoshi Yokoyama reveals a "more serious" side to the character in this iteration, especially early in the narrative.

Producer Ryosuke Horii expands on this, highlighting the "manly drama" at the game's core, focusing on Majima's determined pursuit of his goals and the bonds he forges along the way. He emphasizes that while the game will feature its share of outlandish moments, the overarching story is a straightforward tale of a passionate man's journey.

Horii further explains that Majima possesses a unique quality absent in series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu, making him the ideal lead for this particular adventure. The team aimed for a balance between the fantastical pirate elements, Majima's personality, and the core Like a Dragon spirit, acknowledging the challenge in achieving this blend. The resulting game aims for a compelling balance between realism and over-the-top action, avoiding predictability while maintaining a strong narrative.

Majima's Maji Festival: A Celebratory Tour

To celebrate the game's launch, RGG Studio is hosting Majima's Maji Festival, a special event touring six Japanese cities. The tour, which began in Sapporo on December 1st, 2024, concludes in Nagoya (January 18th) and Tokyo (January 25th).

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, starring the iconic "Mad Dog of Shimano," Goro Majima, promises an unforgettable pirate adventure with thrilling combat, naval battles, a vibrant cast, and a captivating story. The game launches on February 21st for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
