miHoYo, the studio behind the wildly popular Genshin Impact, continues its PlayStation conquest. Their newly released action RPG, Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ), has swiftly climbed the ranks of most-played games on the PS5, solidifying miHoYo's position as a major player in the console gaming market.
Zenless Zone Zero: A PlayStation Launch Triumph for miHoYo
ZZZ Cracks the PS5 Top 10
Zenless Zone Zero, a free-to-play live-service action RPG, has quickly gained significant traction on PlayStation. Following its multi-platform launch, the game, from the creators of Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, has proven its appeal beyond the mobile and gacha gaming spheres.
According to Circana's "US Player Engagement Tracker Top 10 Titles" report (released yesterday), ZZZ recently secured a coveted spot in the top 10 most popular PlayStation games, sharing the leaderboard with established giants like Elden Ring and Minecraft. It's important to note that Circana's ranking is based on weekly user engagement, not total playtime.
Launched on July 4th, ZZZ's impact was immediate. Its launch week saw it land at #12 on the PS5 Top 40 most-played games chart. Furthermore, a report from PocketGamer.biz last week revealed that the game generated nearly $52 million in gross player spending ($36.4 million net) on mobile within its first 11 days, peaking at $7.4 million on July 5th across the App Store and Google Play.
While not yet surpassing the overall success of miHoYo's other titles, Zenless Zone Zero is holding its own amongst gaming heavyweights like Call of Duty, Fortnite, and Roblox. On the Epic Games platform, the game boasts a strong 4.5/5-star rating, with players praising its engaging boss battles and compelling narrative.
We awarded ZZZ a 76/100, highlighting its stunning visuals and fluid animations. Read our full review here! [Link to Review]
