According to Remedy's annual report, Control 2 has successfully passed the concept validation stage and has moved into full production. This milestone marks significant progress, affirming that the project is on track to deliver an exciting sequel to fans eagerly awaiting its release.
In addition to Control 2, two other exciting projects are actively being developed: FBC: Firebreak and the remakes of Max Payne 1+2. A year ago, these games were in the preparation phase, but they have now advanced to the next stage of development. However, it's worth noting that the project Kestrel, which was being developed in collaboration with Tencent, has been removed from Remedy's plans after its cancellation in May of last year.
All these projects are being crafted using Remedy's proprietary engine, Northlight, which has already demonstrated its effectiveness in games like Alan Wake 2 and other Remedy titles. The use of Northlight ensures a high-quality gaming experience that fans have come to expect from Remedy.
Regarding budgets, Control 2 is estimated at 50 million euros. The game will be self-published by Remedy and will be available on Xbox Series, PS5, and PC platforms. On the other hand, FBC: Firebreak has a slightly more modest budget of 30 million euros. This project will be accessible through PlayStation and Xbox subscription services upon release, as well as on Steam and the Epic Games Store, offering gamers multiple avenues to enjoy the game.
The remakes of Max Payne 1+2 remain shrouded in mystery in terms of their budget, but it is known that they will be AAA-level games. The development and marketing of these remakes are fully funded by Rockstar Games, ensuring a robust promotional campaign and top-notch quality.
