Digimon fans, get ready for an exciting new addition to the franchise! At DIGIMON CON 2025, Bandai Namco unveiled Digimon Alysion, a brand-new mobile trading card game (TCG) currently in development. This announcement comes hot on the heels of the success of other mobile TCGs like Pokémon TCG Pocket and Marvel Snap, showing Digimon's ambition to capture a larger audience in the mobile gaming space.
Digimon Alysion will be a free-to-play digital TCG, allowing players to collect cards featuring various Digimon and characters from the franchise. You can build your decks and engage in battles against other players, just like in traditional TCGs. What sets Digimon Alysion apart is its promise of an in-depth story mode, which will provide players with more than just competitive gameplay. This feature aims to enhance the gaming experience, offering a rich narrative alongside the strategic card battles.
The new trailer for Digimon Alysion gave fans a glimpse of the gameplay and introduced an all-female cast set to appear in the story mode. New characters such as Kanata Hondo, Futre, and Valner Dragnogh, along with a new Digimon called Gemmon, were revealed. While no specific release date was announced, Bandai Namco mentioned an upcoming closed beta test, with more details to follow.
In addition to Digimon Alysion, DIGIMON CON 2025 provided more insights into Digimon Story: Time Stranger. Producer Ryosuke Hara shared details about the game's history, main characters, and the special moves of featured Digimon. He confirmed that players can choose from three starter Digimon at the game's beginning: Patamon, Gomamon, and DemiDevimon, all beloved characters from the original Digimon Adventure anime.
Hara also revealed that Digimon Story: Time Stranger will boast an impressive roster of over 450 Digimon, including fan favorites like Angewomon, Gallantmon, and Agumon. This surpasses the total number of Digimon in its predecessor, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker’s Memory, which featured 330 Digimon.
The game's narrative will center around time travel, with players choosing between two protagonists: Dan Yuki and Kanan Yuki, both secret agents for the organization ADAMAS. They'll be joined by the main heroine, Inori Misono, and her partner Aegiomon, as they tackle mysterious threats to both humans and Digimon across different time periods.
DIGIMON CON 2025 also celebrated the Digimon franchise with other announcements, including a 25th Anniversary PV for the Digimon Anime, new starter decks and booster packs for the Digimon Trading Card Game, and a new anime series, Digimon Beatbreak, set to premiere in October 2025. The future looks bright for Digimon fans, so stay tuned for more updates throughout the year.
