In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, the side quest *Bad Blood* offers a deep dive into the lives and conflicts of its characters. Here's a detailed guide on how to start and complete this intriguing quest.
How to Start Bad Blood in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
Once you gain the freedom to explore the open world in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, you'll need to progress through a quest involving finding Mutt. As you near Bozhena's hut, Henry suggests checking if Bozhena has seen anything. Head to her hut and inquire about Mutt. Bozhena will mention that her daughter Pavlena is missing. Agree to help her, which will add *Bad Blood* to your quest journal.
Gather Information
Start by visiting Troskowitz and speaking with Baliff Thrush, followed by a conversation with Innkeeper Betty at the tavern. They'll provide insights into Bozhena and Pavlena's past, explaining why they were ostracized from the village. Next, locate the woodcutters at the designated area and talk to Woodcutter Dushko. He'll guide you to Roman's house. Be prepared to lockpick the door—save your game beforehand.
Inside Roman's house, investigate Pavlena's basket. After your search, talk to Dushko again for further directions. He'll point you toward a clearing near Roman's house, a favorite spot of the couple.
Search the Scene
From Roman's house, follow the objective marker down the hill toward the stream. Turn left at the two large boulders to discover a trail of blood leading to Roman's lifeless body. Continue uphill to speak with Hogherd Hugo, then return to Troskowitz and converse with Hired Hand Straw. Successfully navigate a dialogue check with Straw to learn about Jakesh and the true events surrounding Roman and Pavlena.
You can also consult with Thrush about Straw's fate. Once done, head to the rocks south of Zhelejov to further your investigation.
Confront Ota
In the designated area, navigate around the large boulder to find a path and ascend the ladder to encounter Ota and Pavlena. With sufficient Charisma, you can persuade Ota to release Pavlena by choosing these dialogue options:
- “What’s your name?”
- “Let her go and I’ll let you go.”
- “I’ll put in a good word for you with His Lordship.”
Once Ota releases Pavlena, she will unexpectedly kill him. After this, speak with Pavlena and return to Bozhena together. Bozhena will then request that you deal with Jakesh.
Kill Jakesh or Make Peace
For the quest's final step, you face a choice: kill Jakesh or broker peace between him and Bozhena. Find Jakesh at his child’s grave in the farm. You can either eliminate him or engage in a conversation to resolve the conflict peacefully. Alternatively, you could kill Bozhena to end the quest, though this is less recommended.
In my playthrough, I chose to kill Jakesh and reported back to Bozhena, receiving a reward.
Should You Kill Jakesh?
Killing Jakesh will negatively impact your reputation in Troskowitz, but it will significantly boost your standing with Bozhena and Pavlena. You'll unlock new dialogue options with Pavlena and receive a necklace that Roman gifted her.
If you opt to spare Jakesh and facilitate peace, Jakesh will offer you 100 groschen. Upon reporting back to Bozhena, you can choose to keep the money or share it with her. This choice will also allow Bozhena and Pavlena to reintegrate into the settlement.
