Ubisoft quietly launches a new NFT game: Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E. This top-down multiplayer arcade shooter, linked to the Netflix series Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, requires players to purchase an NFT to participate.
Limited Access, NFT Required
The game, a spin-off of the Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon DLC, is limited to 10,000 players. Access is granted through the purchase of a Citizen ID NFT card for approximately $25.63. This card tracks in-game achievements and can be traded, potentially increasing in value based on player performance.
The Citizen ID cards are available via Ubisoft's Magic Eden page, with a full launch slated for Q1 2025. Early access is available to those who purchase the ID card now.
A Story of Defection and Betrayal
The game's narrative, while not fully detailed by Ubisoft, is set within the same universe as the Netflix series. Players assume the role of citizens within Eden, a technologically advanced, corporate-controlled society. Player actions, including mission completion and community involvement, will influence the game's storyline.
The series itself follows Dolph Laserhawk, a supersoldier who defects from Eden Tech Military and later becomes embroiled in a conflict with his former partner. The game promises to expand on this intriguing storyline.
