How to Unlock Caldarus as a Romanceable Character in Fields of Mistria

To romance Caldarus in *Fields of Mistria*, you must break the Fire Seal located on Floor 60 of the mines. To do this, you'll need to offer four specific items: a Sealing Scroll, a Faceted Rock Gem, an Emerald, and a Rockroot. Once you complete the offering, a cutscene will play where the Mines Priestess warns you to leave or risk being sealed yourself. As your health depletes, Caldarus heroically appears, transforming into his human form, and bestows upon you the Dragon’s Breath spell before retreating to the Deep Woods. In his human form, you can engage in daily conversations and gift-giving, similar to other romanceable NPCs in Mistria.

After breaking the Fire Seal, Caldarus can be found exclusively at his temple in the Deep Woods. Use the Dragon’s Breath spell to permanently unlock this area on your map.

Caldarus’ Heart Events in Fields of Mistria

With the March 2025 update, Caldarus begins with six hearts, which is the current heart level cap. This means there are no additional heart events for Caldarus at the moment, but future updates are expected to introduce more. Currently, there are only a few cutscenes featuring the dragon. The first is a dream sequence at the game's start, serving as an introduction to the magic system and game mechanics. The second occurs after you break the Fire Seal, where Caldarus saves you from being sealed and reveals his human form before retreating to recover in the Deep Woods.

Following the March 2025 update, you can trigger a special date with Caldarus during the Shooting Star Festival on Summer 28.

The Shooting Star Festival

The Shooting Star Festival marks the end of summer in *Fields of Mistria*, offering a chance to go on a date to the Summit with any romanceable NPC who has four or more hearts. Since Caldarus starts with six hearts, you're eligible to attend with him. To set up the date, gift him a Star Brooch before 8 PM on Summer 28 and meet him afterwards to confirm your participation. This will initiate a romantic cutscene at the Summit where Caldarus expresses gratitude for the invitation, discusses the stars and the Mistrian tradition of Starbinding, and delves into existential topics about soul connections and the nature of stories. The evening concludes with an invitation to watch the stars from his temple.
