Yama, New Boss in Old School RuneScape, Returns to Great Kourend

Author : Henry Update:May 22,2025

Old School RuneScape's latest update plunges you deep into the political turmoil and infernal depths of Great Kourend, where an ancient and furious entity has awakened. The new boss, Yama, the Master of Pacts, is now live, a formidable fire-drenched minotaur demon who has been amassing power in the Chasm of Fire, biding his time for the perfect moment to unleash chaos.

For those who have completed the quest A Kingdom Divided and tackled the Royal Titans, this update continues the saga. After confronting Yama’s Judge back in 2021, it became clear that the true menace was still lurking—complete with wings, horns, hooves, and a menacing two-handed axe. Yama is accompanied by the Disciples of Yama, a fervent group of fire-worshipping cultists ready to sacrifice themselves for their master.

The battle with Yama is tailored for high-level players. You'll need to have completed the quest, possess top-tier combat stats, and equip Best in Slot gear to stand a chance. The encounter can be tackled solo or with friends. Triumph over Yama grants access to valuable loot, such as Demon Tallow for brewing Surge Potions, the Chasm of Fire Teleport Scroll, new Grimoire Pages, and other hidden treasures.

The Chasm of Fire has also been expanded, introducing a new mining and smithing area where you can harvest Crimson Lovakite, a rare resource unique to this fiery abyss. With it, you can craft Oathplate, a new armor set that significantly enhances your late-game arsenal. Even if bossing isn't your thing, there's ample reason to explore the Chasm.
