VNeID

The VNeID application, developed by the National Population Data Center under the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, leverages population data, identification, and electronic authentication technologies to provide a modern solution for citizen identification in both physical and digital environments. Designed primarily for individuals residing or traveling within Vietnam, this app serves as a valuable tool to replace traditional documents, facilitating digital citizenship, government services, and societal progress. It enables users to efficiently declare medical reports and complete domestic travel declarations while aiding authorities in tracing secondary COVID-19 infections and issuing timely notifications.

By downloading and using the VNeID application, users consent to granting permissions for the following functionalities:

• Access to the internet via the user’s device.
• Camera access to scan QR codes on CCCD cards, expediting the entry of personal details and enabling swift travel and medical declarations.
• Access to photos, videos, audio files, and documents stored on the device to save QR code images for inspection at checkpoints.
• Receiving push notifications on the user’s device.

Personal information is collected upon user submission of forms, including full name, phone number, citizen identification, gender, year of birth, permanent address, nationality, health status, travel history, vehicle registration numbers, and potential exposure to COVID-19 cases. Such data is securely stored and utilized exclusively for public health initiatives, ensuring compliance with Vietnamese laws and safeguarding user privacy.
