Application Description

Learning to read Spanish and mastering the alphabet are essential skills that lay the foundation for a child's educational journey and future success. These abilities are crucial during preschool and the early years of elementary school, as they are fundamental to a child's academic and professional life.

Children today are digital natives, naturally drawn to computers and tablets. This affinity presents a unique opportunity to reinforce and enhance what they learn in school through engaging digital platforms.

Method

Our method for learning to read Spanish utilizes phonics and is tailored for children aged 3 to 6 or 7, as well as adults looking to refine their pronunciation. The program is structured into a section for tracing letters and 30 lessons that progressively introduce vowels and consonants, starting with vowels and moving through L, M, S, T, P, N, D, F, H, C, Q, CH, G, GUE, R, -rr-, B, V, J, GE, GUE, Y, Z, CE, LL, X, and K.

Each lesson features 11 interactive games, available at two different difficulty levels. This setup is perfect for parents and educators seeking tools to help children practice their initial syllables and words in Spanish. The approach encourages children to listen and engage with the exercises, without needing to understand everything fully.

Learning to read is a gradual process that may span over a year. We recommend practicing for a few minutes daily and revisiting previously learned material, adjusting the exercises to suit the child's level and pace. It's crucial that the learning experience feels like a game.

Levels

All games within our program offer two levels of difficulty, which can be adjusted at any time. Children can progress at their own pace, with the option to pause and resume later. Successfully completing games earns them virtual fruits, adding a fun element to their learning journey.

The first level is designed for children as young as three, and sometimes even younger with parental or educator assistance. At this stage, children can use hints to solve games. The second level is more challenging and encourages children to solve games independently, though the focus remains on making learning enjoyable.

As parents or guardians, it's important to ensure the difficulty level matches the child's abilities and not to pressure them excessively to complete or advance levels.

Abilities

Our program targets the development of key cognitive skills:

  • ★ Visual and auditory memorization
  • ★ Identification and Association
  • ★ Discrimination
  • ★ Understanding
  • ★ Literacy

Options

From the home screen, users can:

  • - Enable or disable background music
  • - Toggle full-screen mode

Within the Tikis menus, additional options include:

  • - Changing the font to uppercase, lowercase, or cursive handwriting
  • - Enabling or disabling automatic activity, which switches to another game after a set number of exercises
  • - Shuffling syllables for varied practice

Achievements

Users can set up to three profiles (avatars) for different children, tracking each child's progress across levels, including correct and incorrect answers, represented as a percentage and visually as fruits. These fruits serve as a motivational tool, encouraging continued engagement. When fruits are collected, they can be given to little aliens within the game. For a detailed overview of progress, users can access the reports button on the Tikis screen.
