Quick Rules Overview:

After dealing cards evenly among four players, each player bids high (using a black card) or low (using a red card). Bid cards are revealed sequentially starting left of the dealer. The first player revealing a black card "grands," making it a high round where teams try to win maximum tricks. No further cards are revealed after the first black card. If all bids are red, it becomes a low round where teams try to win minimal tricks.

In high-bid rounds, the player right of the grander leads the first trick. In low-bid rounds, the player left of the dealer leads. Players take turns playing one card, following suit when possible. If unable to follow suit, any card may be played. The highest card of the led suit wins the trick, and the trick winner leads the next trick.

Points are awarded after each round based on tricks collected by each partnership. In high-bid rounds, the granding team scores one point per trick over six. If they fail to reach seven tricks, the opposing team scores one or two points per trick over six (depending on "set bonus" settings). In low-bid rounds, teams score one point per trick under seven.
