Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Hotfix 4.1 Addresses Player Concerns After Patch 4.0 Backlash
Following significant player backlash over the nerfs introduced in Patch 4.0, Saber Interactive is releasing hotfix 4.1 on October 24th. This update reverses many of the controversial changes, addressing community concerns. Furthermore, the developers have announced plans for public test servers, slated for early 2025.
The decision to revert changes comes after a wave of negative feedback, including negative Steam reviews. Saber Interactive acknowledged that Patch 4.0 aimed to increase enemy numbers, rather than simply boosting enemy health, but this negatively impacted easier difficulty levels.
Key changes in hotfix 4.1 include:
-
Enemy Spawns: Reverted to pre-Patch 4.0 levels for Minimal, Average, and Substantial difficulties. Significantly reduced on Ruthless difficulty.
-
Player Armor: Increased by 10% on Ruthless difficulty.
-
Bot Damage: Bots now deal 30% more damage to bosses.
-
Bolt Weapon Buffs: A comprehensive buff to the entire Bolt weapon family, addressing previous underperformance. Specific damage increases are detailed below:
- Auto Bolt Rifle: +20%
- Bolt Rifle: +10%
- Heavy Bolt Rifle: +15%
- Stalker Bolt Rifle: +10%
- Marksman Bolt Carbine: +10%
- Instigator Bolt Carbine: +10%
- Bolt Sniper Rifle: +12.5%
- Bolt Carbine: +15%
- Occulus Bolt Carbine: +15%
- Heavy Bolter: +5% (x2)
The developers will continue monitoring player feedback post-patch to ensure the "Lethal" difficulty remains appropriately challenging. The introduction of public test servers in early 2025 aims to prevent similar issues in the future.
