However, his journey isn't without its challenges; he gets wounded and begins to miss home. Eventually, he decides to return, embarking on a voyage with a caravan, crossing the sea on a pirate ship, and traveling through Spain and France. Once back home, he resolves to migrate every winter to Africa, relishing the wonders he discovered. This tale beautifully captures the cuckoo's transformation into a migratory bird.

Each stop on the cuckoo's journey is enriched with music reflective of the local culture. From the rhythmic beats of a desert caravan to the vibrant strains of a Spanish malagueña, the soulful accordion of a French musette, and the excitement of a wild boat ride, the musical backdrop adds depth and vibrancy to the narrative. 'The Oasis of Douz' celebrates the unique musical heritage of each region in a lively and engaging manner.
