Balatro hit a huge sales milestone

Balatro, the indie roguelike developed by a single person, continues its phenomenal success story. After surprising players and critics last year with its innovative gameplay, the game has now sold over 5 million copies, a milestone recently announced.

Just a month ago, the developer, LocalThunk, celebrated reaching 3.5 million sales. This staggering increase of 1.5 million copies in approximately 40 days is likely attributed to the impact of The Game Awards, a suggestion hinted at by the developer on social media.

Harvey Elliott, CEO of Playstack, the publisher, lauded this achievement as truly remarkable and expressed immense pride in both LocalThunk and the Playstack team.

Even nearly a year after its initial release, Balatro remains incredibly popular. The card-based roguelike continues to receive updates, including exciting collaborations, and recently set a new record for concurrent players on Steam. This sustained success highlights the game's enduring appeal and the developer's commitment to post-launch support.
