Dune: Awakening recently concluded its open beta weekend where players uncovered a serious combat exploit allowing permanent enemy stuns. Here's what we know about this PvP-breaking issue and Funcom's response.
Game-Breaking Stunlock Mechanic Discovered
Beta Testing Reveals Critical Combat Flaw
The Dune: Awakening open beta provided players their first 20-25 hours of gameplay experience along with additional features. During the Global LAN Party livestream on May 10, participants identified a critical combat exploit enabling infinite stunlock attacks.
The stunlock bug occurs when players deliver repeated knife strikes against stamina-depleted opponents. Victims become completely immobilized - unable to defend, activate abilities, or escape - leaving them trapped in perpetual stagger animations.
The issue gained widespread attention after prominent streamers Tyler1 and Shroud encountered it during their gameplay broadcasts.
Developer Commitment to Immediate Fix
Funcom developers observing the Global LAN Party livestream immediately acknowledged the stunlock exploit. Dune: Awakening World Director Jeff Gagné and Lead Producer Ole Andreas Haley confirmed plans to resolve the issue prior to official launch.
Gagné reassured players: "We're already handling this. It's not a blind spot for us - the solution is already in progress." With beta testing completed, developers have gathered extensive positive feedback alongside crucial bug reports to optimize the final product.
Dune: Awakening launches June 10, 2025 for PC with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions following at unconfirmed dates. For ongoing updates about the game's development, check out our comprehensive coverage.
