Elden Ring Nightreign, the upcoming cooperative action game, will notably omit the poisonous swamps characteristic of From Software titles. Yasuhiro Kitao, the project's product manager, confirmed this in a recent interview with journalists. While a swamp-like area was featured in the trailer, Kitao clarified it's a distinct location. This omission is attributed to the absence of Hidetaka Miyazaki, From Software's head and a known enthusiast of swamp environments, from Nightreign's development. Miyazaki's influence is evident in the swamp locations present in both Elden Ring and the Dark Souls series.

Interestingly, a two-player mode remains a possibility for Elden Ring Nightreign. Currently, only one-player and three-player modes have been confirmed, with the exclusion of a two-player mode initially cited as a content balancing challenge. From Software is actively considering adding this mode, but a final decision is pending.
Elden Ring Nightreign is slated for release on May 30, 2025, for PC and current and next-generation consoles.
