Sony's Latest Patents: AI-Powered Gameplay and a Realistic DualSense Gun Attachment
Sony has filed two intriguing patents aimed at enhancing the gaming experience. These innovations include an AI-powered camera system to predict player actions and reduce lag, and a gun-style trigger attachment for the DualSense controller.
AI-Driven Lag Reduction:
The "Timed Input/Action Release" patent describes a camera system that monitors the player and controller. Utilizing machine learning, the AI analyzes player movements and predicts upcoming button presses. This predictive capability aims to preemptively process inputs, thereby minimizing lag in online games. Alternatively, the system could interpret partial controller inputs, inferring the player's intent.
Enhanced Gunplay with DualSense Attachment:
A second patent details a trigger attachment designed to transform the DualSense controller into a more realistic firearm simulation. Players would hold the controller sideways, using the space between the R1 and R2 buttons as a sight and the attachment's trigger to mimic firing. This accessory is envisioned for use with various games, potentially including PSVR2 titles.
