The journey from script to screen for Daredevil: Born Again underwent numerous revisions, yet surprisingly, only Episode 5 remained unchanged—ironically, star Charlie Cox's "least favorite" installment of the season.
"I'm not sure if this interests anyone, but amidst all the changes, one episode stayed completely intact," Cox revealed during a recent interview with The Playlist.
"It's the bank hostage episode—part of our original shoot before the strikes. Personally, I wasn't convinced by it."
Cox admitted he "resisted it as much as professionally possible." The controversial episode traps Matt Murdock (Daredevil's civilian identity) in a bank heist while he attempts to secure financing for Nelson & Murdock alongside partners Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll).
"The concept felt dated—like a '70s crime plot," Cox explained. "Modern banking security makes this scenario improbable, and the robbery method lacked sophistication."

However, Cox acknowledged the episode's unexpected popularity: "Despite my reservations, fan response overwhelmed me—apparently it's become one of Disney's highest-rated Marvel episodes internally."
Our review agreed—in our Daredevil: Born Again Episodes 5 and 6 analysis, we praised: "Remarkably executed from start to finish. This installment brilliantly showcases Matt Murdock's heroic essence, proving his heroism transcends the suit."
