REPO's Overcharge and Difficulty Scaling are Getting Major Tweaks, Says Developer

Exciting changes are on the horizon for REPO, with the developers at Semiwork planning significant adjustments to the game's difficulty scaling and Overcharge mechanic. These updates, informed by player feedback during the recent open beta, are set to enhance gameplay and deepen the game's lore. Read on to discover what's in store for REPO.

REPO Development Updates

Overcharge Overhaul

Following the open beta phase, REPO's developers at Semiwork have been hard at work, particularly focusing on the game's Overcharge mechanic. This feature, which lets players pick up and throw enemies onto hard surfaces or away from their team, comes with a crucial twist: an overcharge meter that, once filled, causes the player to explode.

Originally introduced right from the start, the Overcharge mechanic will now unlock at level 10. As part of their strategy to increase difficulty, Semiwork plans to introduce new mechanics every 10 levels (levels 20, 30, and so on), with Overcharge serving as the initial challenge in this series.

These new mechanics won't just be about ramping up the difficulty; they will also enrich the game's lore. According to Semiwork, "So this system will be also tied to lore. It won’t be just a gimmick for no reason. There will be something attached to this and we will share more details in the future."

Developers Joined Open Beta Matchmaking

In an effort to directly engage with the community, Semiwork developers, including Pontus Sundstrom, participated incognito in random matches during the open beta. This hands-on approach allowed them to gather valuable insights and feedback directly from players.

Sundstrom shared, "And I've also actually played with a lot of you guys - incognito, in secret, through the random matchmaking in the servers." He further explained, "And I've been asking some questions and finding out what you guys find fun, stuff like that."

With the wealth of feedback received, Semiwork is committed to continuously improving REPO. Players can anticipate more exciting updates in the future, as the developers have promised to reveal further details soon.
