Misty Island, a location shrouded in mystery and danger, looms large in the early stages of Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. It's the site of Daxter's unfortunate Ottselization, making a return understandably daunting for Jak and his furry friend. Yet, for those brave enough to venture forth, Misty Island holds a wealth of secrets and valuable treasures. But first, you'll need access.
To reach Misty Island, you must first assist the fisherman in the Forbidden Jungle, helping him catch 200 pounds of fish. This rewarding task earns you a Power Cell and access to the Speedboat in Sandover Village, your ticket to Misty Island.
Catching the Sculptor's Muse
Your first mission on Misty Island involves retrieving the Sculptor's Lost Muse—a golden creature resembling Daxter. Located near the docks, this elusive Muse won't be easily caught. You'll need to chase it, skillfully utilizing roll jumps to keep pace. To navigate its path, break large bones to create bridges. Learn the Muse's route, master the platforming challenges, and strategically cut it off during its turns, or even use a well-timed roll jump to catapult Jak directly onto it. Once captured, return the Muse to the Sculptor in Sandover Village for your reward: another Power Cell. But don't rush back—Misty Island holds more treasures!
Utilizing Blue Eco for a Power Cell
After retrieving the Muse, head back to your starting point, turn right, and you'll discover a platforming section brimming with blue eco orbs, leading to a Precursor Door. Collect as much Blue Eco as possible, then proceed towards the Precursor Platform (see image 3). Touching the platform while charged with Blue Eco will propel you across the gap to a Power Cell.
Confronting the Dark Eco Pool
Your next Power Cell lies near the adventure's origin point, but a challenging arena battle awaits. Charge up with Blue Eco and proceed to the Precursor Door mentioned above. This leads to an arena where waves of Lurkers attack, raining explosive shots from above. Utilize the Red Eco they drop to your advantage, staying mobile to evade the explosives. Defeat the Lurkers, and stairs will appear, leading to the Dark Eco Pool and your Power Cell.
Ascending the Lurker Ship
Exiting the arena, turn right to find the path to Misty Island's Bay and a Lurker Ship accessible by bridge. Climb the ship's right side to reach the top and claim another Power Cell.
Disabling the Cannon
Climb the ramp, dodging logs thrown by Lurkers. Jump over rolling logs and walk under bouncing ones. Utilize platforms for respite. At the top, defeat the two Lurkers guarding the cannon overlooking the arena to obtain a Power Cell. Use the cannon to destroy metal boxes in the arena below for additional Precursor Orbs.
Defeating the Balloon Lurkers
Hop on the Zoomer and eliminate the Balloon Lurkers patrolling the bay. Use the Zoomer's trans-pad (located near the Lurker Ship, across from the original bridge) to navigate the bay. Carefully use brakes, acceleration, and the hop function to avoid mines while targeting Lurkers. Defeating five Balloon Lurkers yields a Power Cell.
Reaching a Floating Power Cell with the Zoomer
After defeating the Balloon Lurkers, ride up the ramp (image 1), turn right, and navigate around the rock (image 2). Accelerate towards the edge, hopping just before launching to collect Precursor Orbs and a Power Cell.
Collecting the Seven Scout Flies
Seven Scout Flies are hidden across Misty Island. The first is found along the Muse's route; use a seesaw and ground pound to reach the cliff where it's located. Two more are near the arena door (before the Blue Eco section); navigate the crumbling path (see image). Another is found to the left after exiting the arena; use a seesaw to reach the cliff overlooking the Bay. Two more are on the Lurker Ship (one near the bridge, the other on a platform halfway up the ramp). The final Scout Fly is near the top of the ramp used to reach the last Zoomer Power Cell (see image). After collecting this final Power Cell, return the Muse to the Sculptor in Sandover Village to complete your Misty Island adventure.
