Elden Ring: Nightreign will remove the in-game messaging feature, FromSoftware confirmed. Project director Junya Ishizaki explained this decision in a recent interview, citing the game's shorter play sessions. Nightreign's approximately forty-minute gameplay sessions don't allow sufficient time for players to leave or read messages.
"Given the roughly forty-minute session length, there's insufficient time to send or read messages, so we disabled the feature," Ishizaki stated.
This change is notable, as player messaging has been a key element in previous FromSoftware titles, enhancing player interaction and enjoyment. However, the developers deemed the feature unsuitable for Nightreign's design.
To maintain the integrity of the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features a separate narrative. The game promises a fresh adventure with unique challenges and encounters, while preserving the atmosphere and complex design of the Elden Ring world.
