Marvel Rivals Addresses Low FPS Damage Bug Affecting Several Heroes
Players of Marvel Rivals experiencing reduced damage output at lower FPS settings, particularly with heroes like Dr. Strange and Wolverine, can breathe a sigh of relief. The developers have acknowledged and are actively working to resolve this 30 FPS bug impacting damage calculations.
Released in early December 2025, Marvel Rivals quickly gained popularity in the hero shooter genre, boasting an impressive 80% player approval rating on Steam (over 132,000 reviews). Despite initial concerns about hero balance, the game's reception has been largely positive.
However, a recent glitch affecting damage at 30 FPS has emerged, impacting heroes such as Dr. Strange, Magik, Star-Lord, Venom, and Wolverine. Community reports indicate diminished damage on some or all of their attacks at lower frame rates. A community manager on the official Discord server confirmed the issue, noting movement problems at lower FPS that extend to damage output.
While a complete fix might take time, the community manager, James, assures players that the upcoming Season 1 update (launching January 11th) will address this problem.
Addressing the 30 FPS Damage Issue
The root cause appears to be linked to the client-side prediction mechanism, a common programming technique to minimize perceived lag. While the exact list of affected heroes and abilities remains unclear, Wolverine's Feral Leap and Savage Claw abilities are specifically mentioned. The effects are reportedly more pronounced against stationary targets. If the Season 1 update doesn't fully resolve the issue, a subsequent patch will address the remaining problems.
